This Privacy Policy explains how MyCareerBot ("we", "our", "us") handles student data and family information when you use our career guidance app and website in India. MyCareerBot uses a local-first storage model for core progress data.

1. Scope and controller

MyCareerBot is a career guidance app for Class 9–12 students and families in India. For privacy questions, contact us at support@mycareerbot.in or use our contact form.

2. Information we collect

• Profile and preference details entered in the app (class, board, stream, subjects, goals).
• Assessment answers, streaks, quiz progress, and career match results.
• Share-card content created by in-app actions (for example, parent career briefs).
• JoSAA rank inputs and analysis preferences when you use Rank & College Analysis.
• Consultation booking details and payment references when you book 1:1 guidance (not full card data).
• Optional account identifiers when you sign in with Google or Apple.
• Limited technical data for app reliability and diagnostics.

3. How we use information

• Provide personalized career guidance, fit scores, and recommendations.
• Show progress features such as streaks, quizzes, and daily actions.
• Deliver JoSAA rank and college analysis during admission season.
• Process consultation bookings and premium unlock purchases.
• Maintain app reliability, security, and performance.
• Respond to support or legal/privacy inquiries.

4. Local-first storage model

Core app data is mainly stored on your device in India and elsewhere you use the app. In most cases, uninstalling the app removes local records unless your device backup restores them. Signing in may sync selected data to our servers for cross-device access.

5. Ads, payments, and third-party services

Ads are currently disabled in MyCareerBot while we focus on the core student experience. If ads are enabled in a future release, they will be described here and configured with appropriate privacy settings where supported.

Paid 1:1 consultant bookings and premium unlocks (including JoSAA Rank & College Analysis) use Razorpay as the payment gateway. Razorpay may process payment details, device/app identifiers, and transaction metadata under its own policies. MyCareerBot stores only the payment references needed to confirm bookings, validate unlocks, support refunds, and prevent duplicate requests.

Sign-in with Google or Apple is optional. Those providers process authentication tokens under their own privacy policies.

6. Rank analysis disclaimer

JoSAA Rank & College Analysis uses historical opening and closing rank data. Results are informational only and do not guarantee admission. MyCareerBot is not affiliated with JoSAA, NTA, or MCC.

7. Permissions and device access

• Internet: required for sign-in, consultation booking, premium purchases, and optional online features.
• Notifications (optional): used only if you enable quiz or reminder alerts. You can disable notifications in app or device settings.

8. Data sharing and sale

We do not sell personal information. We share limited data only where necessary for service operation (for example, payment processors and authentication providers) and as required by law.

9. Data retention and deletion

Data is retained for as long as needed for app functionality and legal compliance. You can request deletion help by contacting us. Local data can generally be removed by uninstalling the app or clearing app data.

10. Children and families

The app is built for students and families. Parents/guardians should supervise usage where appropriate. If you believe a child has provided data that should be removed, contact us and we will help.

11. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards. No storage or transmission method is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.

12. Your rights and choices

• Request access, correction, or deletion support via contact.
• Disable notifications at any time.
• Control app data locally by clearing app data or uninstalling.
• Choose not to sign in and use core offline features without an account.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect legal, platform, or product changes. Updates will be reflected by revising the date above.
